About your Guide:

Steve Genson is a full time professional fisherman.  For the past two decades he has been guiding for muskies on his home waters in the Hayward Lakes region of northwestern Wisconsin.  With B.S. degree in fisheries biology, Steve passes on his knowledge to his clients about such things as seasonal fish location, lure choice and presentation, bait fish movements, boat control, and much more.  You will leave the boat with a greater understanding of the sport.  His true passion is the pursuit of trophy muskies. 

Steve's guide service releases many of the largest fish caught in the area, including numerous 50 inch muskies each season.  Being on the water everyday gives him the advantage to stay on hot lakes and patterns and this translates into more fish boated by clients.  Genson's Fish Hunts is fully licensed and insured.

Steve is an energetic, extremely hardworking guide.  Steve fishes every day, all season long, and his goal is to provide an exciting, enjoyable day on the water. He will also teach you how to become a better angler on your own. Steve has an excellent tournament history with numerous top ten finishes in the Professional Musky Tournament Trail (PMTT).  Top finishes include 4th place at Eagle River PMTT in 2002, 3rd Place at Shelbyville Championship PMTT in 2002; 8th place at Top Gun standing PMTT in 2002, 5th place at Shelbyville PMTT in 2003, 7th at Pomme de Terre in 2005, 8th at Eagle River in 2005, 6th at the PMTT Championship in 2005, 4th Overall in Top Gun in 2005, 9th at Vermilion PMTT in 2006, 10th place at Southern Shootout Cave Run Kentucky in 2008, 7th place at PMTT Fall Meltdown at the St. Louis River in 2010. Steve has won 3 major victories: in 2011 he won over $15,000.00 at the PMTT Spring Shootout, in 2012 he won over $50,000.00 at the World Musky Tour Championship in Eagle River, Wisconsin. In 2014 he won over $14,000.00 at the PMTT Fall Meltdown at Lake Mille Lacs.
